2021 Art Contest
Celebrating The Group of Seven Centenary
1. Contest is open to all local artists in two categories, both professional and amateur
2. The objective is to make a picture in the manner of one of the GROUP of SEVEN Artists (not a reproduction of a GROUP of SEVEN painting).
3. The picture may be of any size, produced on any material (canvas, board, paper), using the artist's media of choice (acrylic, oil, watercolour, pencil, egg tempera, ink, gouache) Subject matter is to be a landscape, a streetscape, or a heritage building, preferably with a focus on Thornhill, however other Ontario/Canadian scenes are acceptable. There is a limit of one entry per person.
4. Entries will be accepted at the Robert West Heritage House (RWHH), 7780 Yonge Street starting Wednesday, May12th, 2021 and must be received no later than Wednesday May 19th. 2021. Judging will take place Friday, May 21st or Monday May 24th. Judges will include a descendant of J.E.H. MacDonald, and two professional artists..
5. Pictures will be displayed on Saturday, June 26th, 2021.
6. Modest prizes are planned (yet to be determined). The top 3 winning pictures in each category will be enlarged and displayed on the large privacy fence of the RWHH property, where they will be admired by residents and visitors.
7. Artists may auction or sell their pictures at the end of the day on Saturday June 26th, if they so wish.
8. All artists submitting a picture must complete and return a copy of the Artist's Entry Form.
